boot.wim is the original .wim file. When I generated it with the PE-SE it was like Win7PE.iso then I renamed it to Win7Recovery.iso and stuck it in the SARDU folder and it ticked off the 7 PE in the menu.

Win7PE_x86.iso renamed to Win7Rescue.iso and put in SARDU iso folder to be exact.

Oh no ... you have a very old version of a PE-Projekt .....

The original ISO-Name from Win7PE-SE-Projekt is Win7rescue.ISO Put the original ISO with this name in the SARDU-ISO-Direction.

Try new with win7Rescue.iso

Please consult back here :!:

It was a typo and this forum doesn't let you edit the post after a few seconds, should I be downloading a different Win7 PE builder? The one I used looked like it was up to date. And I renamed my Win7PE_x86.iso to Win7Rescue.iso and that's how I've been loading it onto my flash drive. It copies the files over properly I just can't get it to boot.

"cannot read boot sector" is an error by chain.c32 module of syslinux. Its not related to m$ bootmgr.
It means what it says.

@SonyUSA

Can u try to edit pe.cfg file again... ;)
Replace the red line, mentioned before, with this: APPEND fs ntldr=/bootmgr

Maybe "fs" option can circumvent accessing the boot sector...

MiKM You're right. I've recreated the environment from Sony and everything works.

@SonyUSA

My tip is to rebuild EVERYTHING and if necessary to use a different stick.

Stick is to reformat to FAT32!

only one question for my brainstorming:
you use WinXP or Win7?

Mikm: with the new beta the pe.cfg already has that appended line showing like that except with a 1 in it
"APPEND boot 1 ntldr=/bootmgr" is how the new Beta5 built it.

Linuxbaby: I'm building it on an XP machine.

mikm you are my HERO !!! Changing the pe.cfg line from:
"APPEND boot 1 ntldr=/bootmgr"
to
"APPEND fs ntldr=/bootmgr"

Made it work perfect! Thank you sooo much!
One more question... why is there no memtest that you can add to the boot menu from SARDU? :D
