Is SARDU still installing stuff I did not select...

Postby wigloba » September 4th, 2012, 11:33 pm

Is SARDU still installing tools I never selected?
If so:
-Why
I remember SARDU creating lot of submenus like "Antivirustools" "Lixux distributions" etc...
Is it still doing this?
If so:
-Why?
I mean I'm pretty sure most people would only install 1 antivirus-tool and 1 Linux-OS etc. Do thay pay you for doing this?

Just imagine:
I wanna have a win7 installer, ubuntu, avira antivir live.
The SARDU will install a menu like that:

*Ubuntu distributions
*****Ubuntu
*Memory tools
*Recovery tools
*Antivirus tools
*****Avira Antivir Live
*Windows installer
*****Windows 7 Setup

Why not like that?

*Ubuntu
*Avira Antivir Live
*Windows7 Setup

So IF you would use more than one Memory tool or whatever you could ask in the forums how to do that. But the default setting should look like my example directly above.

One last question: What about some UI based stuff instead of or in addition to the lst files?
If you actually have so many users as you said you should at least be able to pay a hobbyprogrammer 100$ to do that. I
m pretty sure it would pay off...

Best regards,

Why do you not use a simple grub loader to do this alone?

I don't understand your question.

the submenu are used to make an ordered list. SARDU build more than 60 ISOs. SARDU don't support more than one copy of Ubuntu or other ISO. You can't use Ubuntu 32bit, 64bit and one derivate....

So your theory is that: since there are millions of copies (no paying), should I pay to improve it. I should also say that host them at my house, pay the lunch, dinner and maybe present him some girl?
I forgot.... I have to give the money to go out drinking at the bar

Okay, I see you didn't really got anything. ;P
Is your German better?
I can translate it:

-Warum?

Also stell dir mal vor:

*Ubuntu Distributionen
*****Ubuntu
*Arbeitsspeicher-Tools
*Datenwiederherstellungs-Tools
*Antivirus-Tools
*****Avira Antivir Live
*Windows Installer
*****Windows 7 Setup

Warum nicht einfach diese Kategorien weglassen?

*Ubuntu
*Avira Antivir Live
*Windows 7 Setup

Eine letzte Frage: What about some UI based stuff instead of or in addition to the lst files?

@wigloba
I repeat my question with fun.

Why do you not use a simple grub loader to do this alone?

what do you achieve with your rhetorical try and simple options.

Oh, sorry I skiped your post  .
Well, the thing is that I have no idea about all this. Before I found SARDU, I actually tried this but I had no real success. There are just no insturctions for ALL my images. (I spend like 10 hours trieng to get my stuff to work with grub only...)

Here my questions in more basic english:

Is SARDU still installing tools I did not select?
If yes: Why?
I remember that SARDU made categories like "Antivirus", "Lixux" and "Utility" (at least 2 month ago)...
Is SARDU still doing that?
If yes: Why?
Who needs more than 1 Antivirus? Who needs more than 1 Linux?! (I guess 1 of 1000 people.)

Imagine I want: Windows 7, Ubuntu and Avira Antivirus.
SARDU would create a menu like that:

*Linux <- NOT NEEDED
*****Ubuntu
*Utility <- NOT NEEDED
*Recovery <- NOT NEEDED
*Antivirus-Tools <- NOT NEEDED
*****Avira Antivirus
*Windows <- NOT NEEDED
*****Windows 7

Why is SARDU not making it like that:

*Ubuntu
*Avira Antivirus
*Windows 7

I am sure that most users would prefere this menu:
*Ubuntu
*Avira Antivirus
*Windows 7

One last question:
Why is there no programm that makes it easier to configure the boot-menu? For people who don't know so much about computers (I guess 99% of all SARDU users).
If there are really 1000s of users and you are too lazy, you could pay a programmer to do that (beause of ads and donations). I'm sure that most users would like that. And I think you would make more money with that.
