2.0.4 Beta 7 WINXP

Postby SonyUSA » September 2nd, 2011, 8:58 pm

I created a USB with WinXP Home and Pro, both will boot to the initial setup but after the formatting stage when it tries to copy files it always stops and says it cannot copy "setup.cmd" becaues it is not found on the disk and to push Enter to try again or cancel.

You have one antivirusthat lock SARDU? You are administrator? Try to reformat the USB, disable the antivirus and work as administrator

No? Why would there be antivirus running outside of an operating system? Also I can't run as administrator because I'm not in an OS. The BIOS/PC's that I've tested on don't have AV in their BIOS anyway, not that I've ever seen it. The problem still persists even with a fresh USB and just XP Home SP3 iso (non-modified) on a USB.

you have found "setup.cmd" in you SARDU stick?
for my SARDU-System is the name (i try for many tests "oem windows") "SETUPCOMPLETE.CMD" you found it on your stick in (G:\sources\$OEM$\$$\SETUP\SCRIPTS) wenn you use oem.
rename it to "setup.cmd" ans it will be work fine.

Important information: Don't change the SARDU screen or menu's when you want a fine working SARDU. 8-)

Yes I have found the file under:
E:\winsetup\XPhSP3\i386
and
E:\winsetup\XPpSP3\i386

but for Home it's 0 bytes. I think this is why it's not working... why is it zero bytes? I made it twice and the iso works fine burned to a CD.

It looks like setup.cmd is a generated script to allow USB to be mounted as CD-ROM according to what I read in the XP Pro "setup.cmd". Since the file is empty for the XP Home on my USB stick I am guessing that's why it is not working. I think the Sardu 2.0.4 Beta 7 is not copying the file properly to USB when it creates the directories.

Can you check this davidecosta ?

setup.cmd is extracted by sardu from sardu_1. If you have one antivirus that lock sardu_1.....setup.cmd isn't extracted. You use last version of sardu and last SARDU_1?

Yes I am using latest SARDU. I use no antivirus and don't have any antivirus selected for SARDU.

I tried placing the setup.cmd from the XP pro folder into XP home and changing the folder name inside the cmd script but other files come up missing at around 50% installation, files that are not in the XP Pro folder anyway.

Current Status:
XP Pro SP3 - works great
XP Home SP3 - Can't find setup.cmd , when I put in modified setup.cmd (setup.cmd is a script to mount USB as CD drive) it comes up with other files missing. setup.cmd is generated by SARDU but its a 0kb file in the XPhSP3/i386 folder. It is not from the windows source files.

I extracted SARDU_1 and replaced the 'TOBEREPLACED' and added it to the XPhSP3 but it comes up with "mnt.exe" missing around 40% installation.

XP Pro works fine and it was made the same time as XP Home so it has to be a bug in SARDU not patching or copying the file(s) properly.
