"Windows is loading files" speed difference?

Postby pochox7 » November 14th, 2012, 9:24 pm

Hi all

I'm having strange behaviours concerning my USB speed which maybe you can clarify.

I was testing the Windows 7 AIO installation (on one PC) which works quite perfectly but when i tried it with another PC (a Laptop) I noticed a significant increase in speed when "Windows is loading files" (Black screen with the grey/white loading bar) at Install start (the installation also ran fine). On my PC it took like 3 to 4 minutes, while my Laptop did it in 15 seconds.
Strange thing about this is that the Laptop is a really old one (HP Pavilion zd8000) and my PC has "much" better specs than this one.

(If necessary), Pc specs:

MB Asus P5N32-E SLI (with nForce 680i SLI Chipset)
Intel Core2 Duo E6750 @ 2,67GHz
2x 2Gb DDR2-800 RAM
ATI HD 4850
Latest BIOS revision

If you think it is an issue with the motherboard and USB 2.0 support, I have everything activated regarding this feature (in BIOS).

Any clues?

The USB is a variable. There are controllers and/or pendrive slow or fast with short files, others with large file.
I prefer to use unit USB 3 or hard disks
