USB no boot

Postby Danich » August 22nd, 2012, 9:16 pm

I've tried three different USB sticks, all known good and one I've booted off before on this machine. I've used SARDU's FAT32 formatter as well as RMPrepUSB and followed directions. Nothing works; when I boot the machine and hit ESC to choose the boot device, selecting Removable Device, it tells me there is no bootable removable device. Looking on the USB stick I can see the /boot directory and what appears to be the appropriate files.

Using the x64 version of SARDU, 2.05

Hello :D

Test your USB-Stick with SARDU.

Menu>Qemu>Test USB

or make only a ISO, then

Menu>Qemu>Test ISO

Let us know the result.

Edit: Menu>Qemu>Advanced>use the 64bit version

QEMU did nothing. Set the drive, set RAM, used 64bit version. "Test USB" did absolutely nothing; QEMU didn't even start so it could fail or succeed reading the stick. Test ISO did a lot of HD activity, then nothing. No output anywhere to tell what's going on so I don't know what's failing. I suspect QEMU.

NB: this is a fresh install of Win7 x64 I'm doing this on; it's not been on the internet at all, only my private network (downloaded stuff on this machine, shared it out, grabbed it from the test box). No viruses, no malware.

Sorry, i can't test 64bit.

that I would do.
Step one. Please create a new SARDU.iso
Step two. Test it, when Qemu failed in SARDU with MobaLiveCD or Vitualbox or VMWare.

In my System-Test's with 32bit are no problems.

Used the 32bit version, wiped the USB stick using SARDU's built-in FAT32 formatter. Built the USB. No go. Not in a virtual environment (used VMWare), not on the machine itself. The CD ISO works fine but I need to put more on there than a CD can hold. Have not tested to see if SARDU can burn a DVD but even that, at 4.7G, isn't enough for what I want. And would rather use a USB anyway.

So, what's going wrong here?

Hello

please help us to help you.

What's the result of this:

Step one. Please create a new SARDU.iso
Step two. Test it, when Qemu failed in SARDU with MobaLiveCD or Vitualbox or VMWare.

When this test's "no go" than i "don't no" why.

Perhaps we have a language barrier. The CD ISO worked fine in QEMU. Cannot create a bootable USB even though the files that need to be there look okay.

Hello
