USB capacity and iso

Postby Antonov » November 10th, 2012, 1:19 am

Hi, I'm a french user of sardu but i encountered a bug.
I have a 16Gb usb keys. But when i try to make a bootable key with for example 5Gb of data, sardu says that i need more free space on my key. I have format it in FAT32 with default allocation sector. I don't know what to do. Thanks in advance for your help.

I just tried to format my usb key with RMPREPUSB with following settings:
1partition size:max
2 volume Label: SARDU
3 bootloader option: syslinux bootable
4 filesystem and overrides:
fat 32 -> (try 1) nothing (try 2) boot as HDD
then click on prepare drive then on ok
then click on yes choose 1 and ok twice
But this doesn't work and i have always this size limitation in sardu

Do you extract the files from the zip of SARDU?
So you have space in the unit with the exe of SARDU?

Yes. I re extracted them twice and just cut paste all my iso's in the iso folders but it's always the same. i don't really understand what you mean by "So you have space in the unit with the exe of SARDU?" i try to answer to what i understood: when i launch sardu_x64.exe (i tried with sardu.exe too but it's the same) and i want to make my bootable key, he refuse because i don't have enought space on my key. sardu says on the left that i need 4.97Gb for example, my key is a 16Gb and he says: insuficient for 27Mb. It exactly allow 4.70Gb. And when the error appear and i clik on ok, it quit.

I'm sorry i make a mistake. It's only because it remain only 4.97Gb on my HDD. Sorry for the disturbance.

hi again. Sorry to post this here but it is faster than create a new subject. I can do it if you want.
Actually i put backtrack 5on my key and launch it. but on the desktop i have an icone "install backTrack" but i can only install it on my hdd. I would like to use it in installing it on my key to have an instant working portable version of BackTrack. is it possible? Thanks in advance for your response.

Hi Antonov

Yes, you can use SARDU with BackTrack 5. Just download the BT Live CD from the Linux tab and you should be ready to create your USB afterwards. When BT5 Live CD boots, you should have a few option in which mode to run it and you don't have to install it on a hard disk.

I hope this helps.
