sardu recovery software is freezing my uninfected laptop

Postby xbox » December 8th, 2011, 6:05 am

I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to computers and i think I did something wrong after i downloaded sardu.

One of my laptops-win xp was infected. my login window would freeze, cursor wouldnt move and i couldnt access anything in my laptop.

I used a different un-infected laptop to browse to resolve this problem....came across "How to geek" online which suggested to downloaded sardu. I did just that onto an external hard drive, opened it, and downloaded Avira Rescue CD + Bit Defender Rescue CD to Clean Infected PC etc on to my good laptop, extracted these files on to the external hard drive and created 1 single floppy disc i.e, used the same hard drive to instead of a floppy. Everything went fine till now...

Then I disconnected the hard drive from the good laptop and connected it to the infected one hoping to clear the virus.... Before I could do that, my good laptop started show the black sardu reboot screen, saying 'Automatic reboot will start in 40secs'. The count down begins from 40 to 0 sec's and at the end of it, the count down starts all over again....this has been going on from last after noon...I cant log into my good laptop now...what did I do wrong?
PLEASE HELP ME FIX IT!!!

Mmmmm
You have builded SARDU into your hard disk?
when you launch SARDU you can choose the unit with FAT32. why didn't you choose the USB stick and you have choosed the hard disk? In your system hard disk do you have a partition with FAT32? Probably yes and you have builded into him without see the advices "Attention: Hard Disk"
For remove the boot with the menu of sardu you can use fdisk /mbr in in your unit if there is fdisk

For remove virus best solution (for not technicians) is build one USB, boot the infected PC from USB and remove Virus

REALLY APPRECIATE UR QUICK RESPONSE. THANKS!
Well, I thought I was building sardu into an external hard drive, not the systems hard drive. I didnt have a USB with the required GB to build sardu, so i figured, I could use a external hard drive instead, and use it just like a USB stick to boot the infected PC.
Can u please help me step by step to remove the boot with the sardu menu from my normal PC? That would be a BIG help. Thanks again.

The title of your thread blame SARDU. Is'n correct.
When i made SARDU i add a check for hard disk to avoid these cases. SARDU show the drive letter, the user can see if the unit is the system hard disk.

For fix this, if you have a floppy with DOS you can use:

fdisk /mbr

if you used last beta of SARDU with freedos you can use this or use the recovery of XP and use fixboot or fixmbr.

I never have this problem :(

I'm extremely sorry about the title of the thread. I didnt realize I was putting a -ve remark on sardu. It was a genuine mistake. MY BAD!
If there is a way to edit the title,I'll be more than happy to do it.

No...plz go ahead and change the title. As I said, it was an honest mistake, didnt mean to set a -ve image to sardu....I just didnt realize. It was my mistake that I used the software the wrong way and I dont want sardu to be blamed for my negligence. Plz modify the title relevant to my problem/question that u think is best. Apologize again.
