I also tried building SARDU with only Kaspersky and had the same result.

I have found a work around if anyone is interested... You will need a spare USB drive larger than 256 MB for this workaround.

This is to get Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10 working if you are experiencing the "kernel panic" or "failed to mount block device of live image" errors.

Step 1: Build SARDU as normal WITH Kaspersky (creates menus for you :D) and whatever options you like.

Step 2: Download the Kaspersky USB disk maker from http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/rescuedisk/main?qid=208286083

Step 3: Follow the instructions on that same page to create Kaspersky USB on your SPARE USB drive.

Step 4: Open the SARDU USB you created in Step 1 and then open the rescue folder located at the root. Delete everything inside THIS FOLDER ONLY.

Step 5: Open the Spare USB drive you created in Step 3 and then open the rescue folder located at the root. Copy everything in this folder except grub.exe into the rescue folder on the SARDU USB you emptied in Step 4.

Step 6: Open the SARDU folder on the SARDU USB, then open the antivirus.cfg file with notepad.

Step 7: Find the section that begins with #boot di kaspersky and ends with #. Highlight everything there and replace with the code below.
Code: Select all
#boot di kaspersky
label Boot from Kaspersky Rescue Disk 2010
menu label Boot from ^Kaspersky Rescue Disk 2010
MENU INDENT 1
    kernel /boot/grub.exe
APPEND --config-file="errorcheck off; find --set-root --ignore-cd /rescue/rescueusb.iso; errorcheck on; map /rescue/rescueusb.iso (0xff) || map --mem /rescue/rescueusb.iso (0xff); map --hook; chainloader (0xff); boot"
#

Save the file and you're done!! You should now be able to boot Kaspersky from SARDU!

You changed the label of USB? IF yes rename the label as SARDU
You tried the burned ISO with the same px where you try the SARDU USB? If NO ...make this test.

Let me know

I can add the alternative using this code. I don't love mapping of ISO becouse is very slow to boot

Works fine from and ISO, just not when building a USB. Also, the label is always set to SARDU to avoid any conflicts. :)

Loving Sardu David, thanks alot for developing it! :D

Im having the same issue here, not sure if maybe its the hard drive im using, or im doing something wrong.

Ive formated it with GPARTED the first time, then your SARDU builder 2nd time. Ive built the USB twice.

The only A/V's that start from the USB are AVG and the Microsoft ones. However the Microsoft a/v wont update from the interface. Bitdefender starts, but hangs at the wallpaper, and doesn't load the interface.

Im getting the same problem with both the ISO and the USB.

Oh yea, ophcrack doesn't start either, everything else seems to work fine, including an extra ISO i added in there.

Cheers man, your doing god's work.

Regarding this comment, I think it be a good idea as a secondary option to boot everything from the ISO files instead of an extracted folder. Just an idea.

The ISO I loaded seems to work a bit faster than it would from an actual disk anyway. And its not unbearably slow compared to an extracted folder.

I want this stuff to work so badly!

I haven't tried everything, but so far, Kaspersky, and Bitdefender works, ophcrack still just hangs at "Boot:" for me.
