Hello,

I have SARDU on a USB Flash Drive. I have used SARDU to put its listed antivirus utilities onto the Flash Drive.

How can I update these utilities. It does not seem to be possible to open them from the Flash Drive while in Windows, in order to update them.

I look forward to a solution to this question.

Worked fine with two antivirus but when the software house changed the method, the function has stopped working.
Many antivirus signatures are compressed into files, if you update the database, this will be lost after the next reboot. The only method is download last version of ISO and update the USB.

How do the instructions, at for instance, the AVG link, help me to update the extracted files on the SARDU created USB Flash Drive?

For AVG you already can update definitions .
1) Boot AVG Rescue CD from USB
2) Select Update
3) Online update
4) Wait for the update to finish

or you can use offline update (i tried only online update and it works , later will check for offline and write again ) :

1. Create a new AVG updates folder in your Pen drive or hard drive. Copy and paste the downloaded update file on this newly created directory.

2. Boot from AVG Rescue CD and select Update, which shows the following options
Online : Update from the internet
Offline: Update from the directory.
Download ownload update files from the internet.

3. Now select offline option to navigate through partition and choose AVG updates folder. Run the update. After the update use “Return “ to come to scan. Then you scan your computer for latest virus threats.

For Offline update with AVG Rescue CD :

1) Download virus definitions from : http://www.avg.com/us-en/download-update
2) You need the Iavi file (its a .bin file)
3) Move the file on your USB Flash drive (the folder doesnt matter)
4) Boot AVG Rescue CD from USB
5) Choose Update
6) Choose Offline Update
7) With arows (up/down) navigate to vdefs folder (mine is AVG Defs )
8) When the folder i selected , press Space bar
9) In the bottom of the window you will see that the path i changed
10) Press Enter
11) Wait till update is finished
12) Voala You updated your vdefs

Avira Antivir Rescue System - Online update work (there is a way for offline update but its dificult for me )
F-Secure Rescue - Online update work
Kaspersky Rescue - Can't boot for me
