Floppy Drive Seek Issue

Postby inspyre » October 26th, 2011, 1:01 pm

When using version 2.3 of SARDU it constantly accesses the floppy drive. Yes floppy drive.
Before I get flamed, I use the floppy drive to program industrial equipment, not for personal enjoyment!

The whole time I am downloading rescue ISO's its accessing the drive.
Why would SARDU access the drive? What can be done to prevent it?
I have not tried the new beta version as of yet.

The floppy is a true floppy drive and is not connect via USB. It is connected via a standard floppy controller. I tried your advice, and nothing changed. Floppy seeks constantly. It appears something within the program is "polling" devices. It has a consistent rhythm; even before I select the ISO to download the floppy is accessed. Any other suggestions?

Sorry for my fast reply.

Put the floppy out of your pc in the time you want to build a SARDU-UFD. Where is the problem or i understand you wrong?
Important information: Don't change the SARDU screen or menu's when you want a fine working SARDU. 8-)

Disabling the floppy drive in XP Hardware Device Manager ->no change

Disable floppy drive controller in XP Hardware Device Manager -> NO PROBLEM.

It's not a true fix, but its a great workaround.

Thanks to David Costa and Linuxbaby for the suggestions.
