Enable NTFS Support (experimental)

Postby RemByUserReq » September 26th, 2012, 1:27 am

First time user of Sardu.

I am curious to know how solid NTFS support is when it comes to building a bootable USB drive. Sardu by default supports FAT32. Will NTFS mess with older computers, certain ISO's, etc?

For those curious here is my multiboot USB:

AVG Rescue
Kaspersky Rescue
Microsoft WDO (x86,x64)
CloneZilla
GParted
NT Password
Ubuntu (x86)
Windows XP Recovery Disk
Windows 7 Install (ISO size is over the FAT32 limit)
Windows XP Install

My only reason to use NTFS over FAT32 is because my Windows 7 ISO is 5.2Gb (All versions, x86 x64, with slipstreamed updates). Any thoughts?

Compress or split the install.wim of your installer of Windows Seven and use the fat 32 :)

Thanks for the reply. I split up the large Windows 7 ISO into two smaller ISOs.

I now have:
Windows 7 SP1 AIO 6in1 x86 (2.84 Gb)
Windows 7 SP1 AIO 5in1 x64 (3.72 Gb)

Because SARDU only lets me use one InstallWin7.iso I will try renaming the second one to InstallWin8.iso I'm rebuilding the bootable USB with FAT32 and I'll let you know if it works. This handy program is much appreciated!

I got my bootable USB up and working with FAT32 with zero problems.

Something minor I recommend would be support for custom .iso file names. I can't help you much with the coding but here's a possible design interface.

In future, if I'll prepare a pro version I'll add this option

You can compress and split only the install.wim with
imageX
