Creating a Pardus Live & Install DVD

Postby Fatih » February 12th, 2011, 10:56 am

Hello Everyone

I am trying to create a multiple Pardus Boot DVD using Sardu. Pardus is a Linux Distribution ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pardus_%28 ... _system%29 ) and there is 4 Bootable DVD's for it ( http://www.pardus.org.tr/eng/download/ ) : two 32-bit İnstall & Live DVD's and two 64-bit İnstall & Live DVD's. I had looked at "Extra" section at sardu website but i could not understant how to do it. i have found the "isolinux.cfg" file in all four DVD's and they all contain the same data below :

prompt 1
timeout 200

ui gfxboot.com /boot/isolinux/init

label pardus
kernel /boot/kernel
append initrd=/boot/initrd

label harddisk
localboot 0x80

label memtest
kernel /boot/memtest

label hardware
kernel hdt.c32

can you help me to make this DVD ? If you require any more information about the DVD's, just post here , i will provide it.

Thank you everyone
Fatih

Test:

Extract the file pardus.img in the root of SARDU

Copy /boot/kernel in folder extra
Copy /boot/initrd in folder extra

Add this entries to extra.cfg

Code: Select all
label pardus
menu label pardus
menu indent 1
    kernel /extra/kernel
    append initrd=/extra/initrd

Firstly, by this statement : "Extract the file pardus.img in the root of SARDU" is Sardu means Pardus here ? because pardus.img is at the main folder in pardus iso file.

Below is the list of things i have done and tried :

firstly , i extracted the files "kernel" and "initrd" to the "extra" folder in "Sardu\ISO\Extra"

secondly , i added the entries to the "extra.cfg like this :

#-> EDIT HERE <-
label pardus
menu label pardus
menu indent 1
kernel /extra/kernel
append initrd=/extra/initrd
#-> EDIT HERE <-

But because at the help page example , there were no spaces , i changed it to this :

#-> EDIT HERE <-
label pardus
menu label pardus
menu indent 1
kernel /extra/kernel
append initrd=/extra/initrd
#-> EDIT HERE <-

thirdly , i extracted "pardus.img" to the "Sardu\ISO\Extra" folder and run Sardu. it didnt show any tab named "Pardus" on all 5 sub-sections.

i closed the sardu and moved "pardus.img" to the "Sardu\ISO" folder and run Sardu. again it didnt show any tab named "Pardus" on all 5 sub-sections.

i closed the sardu and moved "pardus.img" to the "Sardu" main folder and run Sardu. and again it didnt show any tab named "Pardus" on all 5 sub-sections.

in conclusion , i was unable to make it work , is there a mistake i made in above sections that you can see ?

and i just found out that in File menu in Sardu , "Enabled Extra" is grey and unclickable ( active ? ) and "Disabled Extra" is black and clickable ( inactive ? )

thank you very much davide for your help , i hope you can help me further to make it work.

my suggestion is for add this software manually.
Yiur target is a usb with SARDU? If yes

1) File --> Enabled Extra
2)copy the img file in the root of USB
3)Copy /boot/kernel in folder extra
Copy /boot/initrd in folder extra

4)Add this entries to extra.cfg

Code: Select all
    label pardus
    menu label pardus
    menu indent 1
        kernel /extra/kernel
        append initrd=/extra/initrd

5) update your usb

No Davide , i am trying to make a DVD with 4 versions of Pardus Boot DVD's inside ( in total they make 4.64 Gbs ) using Sardu. Is there any other advice you can give me to make it work ? or it is not possible to make it work ? thanks again

My suggestion is for one Pardus, put four.....

To start something you start with one, not four.
How works Pardus? I don't know.
I saw a file named "pardus.img" in the root of ISO. This file is load from initrd file.

label pardus
kernel /boot/kernel
append initrd=/boot/initrd <----

We can change the folder of kernel and initrd...but...how to change the reference to pardus.img (for multipe pardus)? I don't know.
I cannot support extra folder for lack of time (I receive hundreds of requests)
