BackTrack 5 r1 KDE 64 doesnt work

Postby yarda » March 12th, 2012, 10:22 am

Hi,
I have got a problem with booting BT5r1 by help of SARDU 2.0.4.3. When I select default BT menu item, it begins to work and after a while it stops and I can see many text row on the screen ending as follows:
.
.
Begin: Fixing languague selector ... ...
Done.
Begin: Disabling trackered ... ...
Done.
Using CD-ROM mount point /cdrom/
Identifying .. [2d92 ... -2]
Scanning disc for index file ..
Found 0 package indexes, 1 source indexes, 0 translation indexes and 0 signatures
Please provide a name for this Disc, such as 'Debian 5.0.3. Disc 1':

I am not able to write anything, because keyboard does not type and the only way how to continue is to restart PC.
Other applications work fine (AVG, Gparted, Hirens, Pmagic, Redobackup, KAV_Rescue, Slax, slacko-5.3.1, Trinity, UBCD, Linux gamer and in extra folder Acronis TrueImage Home 2012).

I tried "install" BT5r1 on another flash disc by help of UNetbooting and in this case it works fine (the same ISO file). I compared the files in folder CASPER on both flash discs and Total Commander says they are indentical.

Any advice or suggestions?

Thanks a lot.

I tried with only BT5R1-KDE-64.iso, choose the first menu (BackTrack Text - Default Boot Text Mode) item and ...works fine.
You tried with only BT?

I used the same iso (bt5r1-kde-64.iso) and the same menu item when the error (freezing) happend.
I "installed" SarduCD 3 times on different USB discs but with BT I never succeed.

Hi
Try this :
\.disk (must be in root of drive - must NOT be moved or 'Identifying CDROM' will fail)
I just copied this folder and it works for me with BT5R2 KDE 32 bit .

I made some experiments with BT 5r1 KDE. Here are results.
alone: works
with antiviruses, other linuxes, utilities and extra: works (list below)
with Windows Recovery disk Vista/7/32/64 DOESNT work (Windows recovery disks work)

I used external HD (2,5 " WD500 GB, 3 partition: FAT32 (Sardu CD instaled here), NTFS (Sardu here), ext2) and 8 GB flash disk (Sardu CD instaled here), OS WinXP on notebook.
Extra:
Acronis TI Home 2012 (rescue iso), Paragon HD Manager 2012 (rescue iso)
Antiviruses:
AVG, BitDefender, DrWeb,eScan, F-Secure, PandaSafe, Acronis Antimalware, Ubuntu-MRT, MSSS32 (new item WDO_Media32.iso renamed to MSSS_Media32.iso)
Utilities:
Clonezilla, GParted, NTpassword, PartdMagic, PartitionWizard, Ping, Redobackup, TrinityRescueKit, Ultimate Boot CD, Hirens Boot CD
Linux:
BT5r1 KDE, Inquisitor, Limp, Puppy (Slacko), Slax, Mint, Linux Gamers (CD version)

Probably I will have to have two flash disks, one for BT (and other items, but without Windows Recovery disks) and another for Windows Recovery disks (and other items, but without BT5 r1)
