2.0.5 barrosu not installing Win 7 with modded copy of SARDU

Postby schuc69 » October 28th, 2012, 2:24 am

I am using SARDU 2.0.5 and trying to get my Win7 AllInOne iso to boot, but it is failing with an error saying I modified files. I have done a lot to try and get the environment going, so I could have modified...but is there a way to tell *which* ones are modified and what is wrong with the modification?

Any input is appreciated!

Here is the error when I select the Win 7 installer:

A:\>c:\boot\barrosu.exe -inseven

Errors=SARDU modified files 3
3
This tool works fine only with unmodded copy of SARDU!

Thanks!

I should also note that I tried to disable the barrosu function in the USB menu, updated the USB stick and got the same results. That's odd that it would even be using barrosu if I opted to disable it.

Looks like I get the exact same message when I try to install the Win 8 image as well.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I saw that message. This still leaves me with two questions..

- Which files are the issue so I can try to go UN-modify them?
- Why is the barrosu function still used when I checked 'disable barrosu'?

I already have a large usb stick created and I'd rather not start from scratch. Thanks.

Barrosu and SARDU check if the entries of menu are modified.
Barrosu is born for SARDU and is a module of SARDU and can't be used without SARDU

Too many people remove all acknowledgements replacing them with their name and website, in some cases even selling it as their own work.

I gotcha. I guess we are talking about the *.cfg files in the SARDU directory then, right?

I'm not sure what changes I made to them..hmm. Well, since those aren't intended to be changed, I'd like to reset them. How can I regenerate the menus without fully rebuilding the USB? I'd rather avoid a full rebuild since it takes so long and I have numerous extra items customized.

Thanks!

Hi schuc6

Sorry, but it is not really possible to rebuild a fine working SARDU with modified *.cfg in your stick. SARDU is protected for abuse. Please accept this. We can't help for modify
Important information: Don't change the SARDU screen or menu's when you want a fine working SARDU. 8-)

Usb --> rebuild only menu of SARDU. This works only if your customization haven't changed the references of SARDU

I've learned a lot about Sardu in the past few days. I was totally not using it properly in the past. Before, I made a usb drive and from the initial creation, just made all mods on the drive itself. I never really did any updating via the interface because I couldn't find a good tutorial on the effect of all the menu items and I didn't want my drive messed up.

Now that I have been playing with it more, I am more familiar with the effect of the various options (although probably still not all of them).

From the beginning, I wasn't doing anything malicious or intending to remove any reference to SARDU and would have appreciated getting some help in resetting the couple of cfg files, but having to fully rebuild the drive did give me a better understanding of how more of SARDU works.

I haven't tried the 'personal folder' option yet and am having issues with both Windows 8 and adding more All-in-one iso's, but I'll take it a step at a time here.
