2.0.4beta new extra functions

Postby maximus » August 10th, 2011, 6:52 am

First I would like to say that the following is my logical opinion as an advanced user, and it is not meant in any way to be offending, only helpful. Others may or may not share my opinion. I really like SARDU and all the effort that has been put into it, and would like to see it continue for a long time to come.

I like the idea of being able to add an ISO from the 4 choices, although it could be more persistent with a list showing what was added and a way to remove it without having to restart SARDU. But still a very good option.

I really like the idea of being able to have a custom grub4dos menu. However, I think it would be better done the same way as the current extra.cfg menu. Put a menu.lst in the extra folder that we can customize as we see fit. Simple and effective. It would give more control and be persistent with every build.

I also really, really like the option to add files or folders to the root of the build. I experiment with different things and can have several files/folders I want to add. But the current method takes many mouse clicks every build to do this. It would be much simpler to add another extra folder, maybe called ExtraRoot, that would put anything in it at the root of the build. Again, simple and effective.

This is just my opinion (and also things that would make it almost perfect for me). I wanted to post in the past about tools I wished to be added, but never did as it almost felt selfish. But now you have brought it to a very customizable level which is even better. I am just trying to help give ideas as to how to make it fully and easily customizable.

When SARDU is born was only for personal use. My job isn't in computer science and I had never develope or make one site.
SARDU is born according to my needs, then, according to the requests, I added something. I have many ideas but little free time for develope :( , my works is sell wine and liqueurs, the donation are few tens of euros that are sufficient only for the site. I don't know the future of SARDU, I can't spend my money on SARDU, isn't correct.

I'm working for this :D follow the beta! :)

Code: Select all

You can add the menu.lst to folder "extra" and load the menu grub.... (with extra click)

SARDU import the folder (with subfolders and files) named Extra (inside the folder of ISOs)
