SARDU does not detect any USB drive

Postby MaBo » March 27th, 2013, 6:08 am

Hello, and a BIG THANK YOU for this amazing software!

I am running Windows 7 64bit.

I have one main problem - SARDU does not recognize any USB drive. When I plug in a USB drive, and click "Search USB", SARDU does not find any drive, and gives error "If you have not connected the medium in which to write Sardu connect it now!"

HOWEVER, for a short moment after I initially plug-in the USB drive, I see the "USB" button (below "Search USB") go active, and I see information appear in the "USB:" information fields (Device, Serial, Label, Total, Free) near lower part of the SARDU window. But it only flashes for a moment, too quick to read, and then goes away, as if no USB is plugged in.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

The stick is Fat32?
If no ---> Enable ntfs in menu USB

Check if the lecter of unit is balcklisted (default ABC) going to the TAB report --> Read Settings
If are blacklisted remove them from the TAB USB

The USB is ready formatted? If you don't have partitions try to format them with rmprepusb, if are hard disk with more partition...SARDU read only the first active partition

Thank you for your reply.

- Yes, all USB drives tested are FAT32.
- drive letter is NOT blacklisted (setting is default 'ABC')
- Yes, USB drives are already formatted with normal single FAT32 partition.

Of note - same USB drives detect successfully in SARDU on another machine.

Perhaps it could be conflicting software on this machine, but I have no idea what?

SARDU don't use external files.
Any antivirus or firewall can lock SARDU

I don't have antivirus or firewall running.

Could something be interfering with SARDU USB detection? Do you have any suggestion on how to debug?

SARDU use only files from its folder.
Do you have rights to read and write from the folder of SARDU?

Yes, I have rights to SARDU folder.

Could there be some other program or service hooking into USB that would interfere with SARDU detection?

Does you USB drive appear as a Removable drive or a Fixed disk in Explorer? I think Sardu only lists Removable drives like standard USB flash disks...
