That's very easy to figure out, and it goes as this:

when building USB, SARDU does not write vesamenu.c32 or any other stuff to the USB. You have to do "Update Only SARDU's menus" and it writes the needed stuff.

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with my SARDU installation. An error message appears at launching when i test with QEMU:
Could not find kernel image: vesamenu.c32
I begin with the software and i'm not too familiar with linux.

I tryed to change the file vesamenu.c32 on the USB root but i have the same message.
Anyone know how to fix it, please?

I too have attempted to make a SARDU USB bootable drive, but have been getting the same error message of the Vesamenu.c32.
It is now Jan 2014 and this bug still persists, which I would have thought would have already been fixed.
