Re: Poll: What would you pay a professional version of SARDU

Hmm..
I can understand the thought of introducing a payed version, but would it then mean there also would be a limited version for non-paying ?
Furthermore commercial-ware attracts crackers and other web-criminals who will just hack SARDU and after injecting it with Malware spread it on the internet. You would then need more of SARDU for solving the damage resulting from usage. Also the reputability and trustworthiness of SARDU could become an issue, since casual PC users aren't able to distinguish between the original and the bad versions. Since SARDU is a security tool it would be a minefield i.m.o.
Perhaps you could introduce an "Enterprise license". This would be for companies or professionals who use SARDU.
As a firm believer in open source and freeware software I can't endorse the American licensing system, since it limits peoples freedom and creativity.
But the "Enterprise license", meaning SARDU in a non-commercial setting would still be freeware, may help you to find some financial resources to maintain the project.
Do consider too that when you sell a product it needs to be 100% reliable and complete.
Also some elements of providing service need to be in place.
Other question is the volunteers work done by for example translators like myself, that was provided free-of-cost to the project.
Ofcourse you're the boss and you should follow your own heart !
Just my 2 cents worth...
