VISTA AIO

Postby Stresbringer » November 28th, 2013, 12:54 am

Hi I am in the middle of making a Recovery disk on my 32 GB USB. It has almost everything from sardu on it (except a few Linux ) and seems to work fine . however I am having problems with Vista AIO

I've just finished making a Windows 7 AIO ISO which is only 3.68GB which hopefully will work, however I cannot seem to either find or make a Vista AIO ISO which is less than 4GB.

Just wondering if anyone has managed to get/make a Vista AIO for both 32 & 64 bit which is below the 4GB which is working? if so please can someone give me some guidance on how to make or get one below 4GB? Am I asking the impossible? why is it bigger than win7 ?

Any help is much appreciated

many thanks

Do you tried to compres (with imagex) install.wim?
The needed file smaller than 4 gb is install.wim

Hi, many thanks for the reply, I have tried Imagex Using Maximum compression and the wim is still 5.73GB. Even if I remove Vista business its over 5GB. can anyone help? Vista AIO is on the sardu list so surely there must be one below 4GB right?

I really appreciate the help

Is Vista AIO 32 OR 64 bit.
In your test you want 32+ 64 bit?

Hi, yes, its has both 32 & 64 Bit. I need both but they are not separated in Sardu

It contains the following

Windows Vista Starter 32-bit
Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit
Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
Windows Vista Business 32-bit
Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit

Windows Vista Home Basic 64-bit
Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
Windows Vista Business 64-bit
Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit

I can happily remove the business versions but it does not reduce it much and its still over 5gb

I have not tested it yet but I have now split the Install.wim file into 4 swm files using imagex, however for some reason the total size seems to be a little smaller than the original file. I will see I it works later

if it does not work I was thinking of making a separate NTFS partition for windows on my 32GB USB, is that an option that wound be successful?

Many thanks for the reply
