Update USB - Full rebuild or Incremental?

Postby MoonDogg » May 15th, 2012, 8:28 pm

My understanding, after reading the help and various forum posts, is that the 'Update USB' option should only write new or updated ISOs to an existing SARDU USB, and not effect existing ISOs, or re-copy them. However, every time I use the 'Update USB' option, I am experiencing a complete rebuild of my USB, with ALL files being extracted and copied to USB again, even though I have only added or updated one ISO.

Is my understanding incorrect? Or am I doing something wrong? I have about 14GB of products on my USB, and the rebuild takes considerable time. Not to mention concerns of wear on the USB device with unnecessary writing. If I simply want to update one ISO with the latest version, how do I do so without completely rebuilding the USB?

Thanks,

Hi
When you hit : Search USB , it shows you which ISO's are available or already on USB flash drive.
If you don't want to update all ISO's just deselect all of them , and select only the one you want to update (This is the way i do it) .
I hope this helps you

Hmm... can it really be that simple? I always assumed if I deselected an ISO, it would essentially remove it from the USB. With the new 'remove from USB' option, I guess it makes more sense now that deselecting will simply do nothing.

Tried it and it works. Thanks!

Hi galip20

what is not clear for you?

After update usb, SARDU rewrite your complete USB.
This is a important option when you change anything in SARDU.
Important information: Don't change the SARDU screen or menu's when you want a fine working SARDU. 8-)

Hi,

is it possible to implement, that when SARDU detects the same data on the target, it would just skip them and copy only data that differ?

Make this too far slow copying.
For save time use the direct extraction (menu USB)
