Problem with UBCD4Win

Postby roland5575 » March 14th, 2013, 10:57 pm

I have been playing with Sardu for a few days now, and i am stuck on a couple of things. I have been using the the 2.0.6.5 (latest) version. I have created a multiboot (10GB) on my 16GB Sandisk Cruzer Edge USB. The usb boots fine, and i can move around the menu no problem. The first problem i met was when i tried to boot to UBCD4Win, when the Windows XP splash/welcome screen appeared, (just before the 'Select Shell' dialogue), the following dialog box appeared next: "Pre Logon........file not found" and when i click ok, the machine reboots.

Now, i prepared the USB following Davids tutorial and i also burned the UBCD4Win ISO to DVD and it ran fine on Vista and XP. I tried the USB on both Vista laptop and desktop.
I rebuilt UBCD4Win and created a new ISO but the result was the same.

RMprepUSB have a tutorial about booting UBCD4Win from a USB on their site, and they mention this particular error message, but it may not be applicable here i don't know, i am just an enthusiast :-) It is on this page: http://www.rmprepusb.com/tutorials/ubcd4win.
I would welcome any help on this.

Also DrWeb Curit doesn't update.
Kaspersky never gets as far as the GUI it seems to stall along the way.

This is a really cool piece of kit and i would appreciate any help to get the most out of it.

Thank you.

Welcome :)

1) Ubcd4win .... how it was created? I tried only with standard options. Others users have had problems solved with standard options. I can't retest if I don't know the settings :(
2) DrWeb don't update...this is one issue of SARDU?
3) Kaspersky do yuou try with original ISO? Can not works fine with your VGA

Hi David,Its nice to talk to you.

Ubcd4win .... how it was created? I tried only with standard options. Others users have had problems solved with standard options. I can't retest if I don't know the settings

I am not sure what you mean by standard options, i used version 3.60 of UBCD4Win and i turned a few plugins on and off. Out from that the only change i made was to create a custom folder with a couple of portable apps in there. When i burned it to DVD it worked fine, it was about 850MB. Do you mean it works better if i build the default version of UBCD4Win?

DrWeb don't update...this is one issue of SARDU?

This ran fine on Win7, updated too!
Doesn't run on Vista laptop or desktop, doesn't get to desktop, just throws up a text based menu of options none of which work.

Kaspersky do yuou try with original ISO? Can not works fine with your VGA

I used the Kaspersky ISO that i downloaded from your page. The result was the same on Win7 and Vista (Kas crashed)

BTW since i posted my problems earlier,i have created a 3.90GB Sardu and burned it to DVD and the same problems are there,

On Win7: UBCD4Win blue screened ......that always happens i think.

Kaspersky did not load, stalled on a page with a User options menu, never got to GUI.

Dr Web was perfect.

On Vista:
UBCD4Win got to the Joshuas Pre Shell page and gave this error: \Programs\Nu2Menu\nu2menu.exe not found. Then when i clicked start shell, it gave a Run-time error '6' Overflow. I had to restart the machine. I will try it tomorrow with the default build.

If you customize UBCD4Win adding module or folders....SARDU can not know the names of folder and don't extract them.
If your issue is wuth ISO can you test it with virtualbox or similar?
