problem on older computers

Postby Cosmin3 » April 20th, 2013, 3:47 pm

Hi.
First, thank you very much for such an wonderful tool.
On new computers it really helps me. But on older ones it doesn't start.
For example one with a Gigabyte GA-945GCM-S2L mainboard. It has limited USB support but it boots well with just about any bootable CD.
I made one with your program (2.0.6.5 version). On my computer (which has a newer Gigabyte mainboard) it starts fine.
On the other one, it doesn't.
I thought that maybe the CD has reading problems in the CDROM drive so I moved the drive from the newer computer into the old one. Still nothing.
It tries to read for a second or two then it switches to another drive, like the CD isn't bootable. So it's the bootloader, it doesn't even show the boot menu; it's not from an Iso.

I'm 100% sure that it isn't a problem with the old mainboard or with the CDROM drive, or with the CD itself.
Other bootable CD's start fine: Paragon Backup&Recovery, Minitool Partition Wizard, Windows XP, memtest... Older and newer all together.

So could you please fix the bootloader so it can start fine on older computers as well...?
Thank you very much.

Best regards, Cosmin

Well, I understand you.
I'm also a computer programmer (Delphi) and I made some freeware programs. So I know about the lack of resources in testing the programs...
But sometimes I also do computer service for my relatives/friends/neighbors and they let me test my programs on their computers.
You could try it too... Just a thought...

I have to understand if the problem is the boot loader or if the problem is the vesamenu.c32 (change with the menu.c32)
Only you can change these files making tests

Well, I tested switching them and there is no change...
I remember that on some bootable CD's I had to set 4 sectors to load and a specific segment. Maybe you need to change these parameters. Just an idea...

Sorry, our english is not so good :(
Could you please explain me exactly what you want me to do?
Or, if you want to solve this faster, contact me on a PM and we'll discuss about a TeamViewer session :D

To solve this problem I've to make test.
If I can't recreate the problem I can't solve.

I don't know if the issue is due to the bootloader of CD or if is due to the vesamenu etc
