new bugs to sardu 2.0.6.5

Postby sardu24jun2013 » June 24th, 2013, 4:10 am

Hello to All!

I tried SARDU and found the following issues at once:

1) the menu software is not written to the USB stick, when the USB stick is built (with the button helptexted "Build one USB with Multiboot"

2) the menu software, e.g. vesamenu.c32, is written when updating "Update Only SARDU's menus" .

3) the windows 7 recovery CD does not go into the menus. This has been noted yesterday by roadran422 english-forum/windows-recovery-disks-vista-7-etc-menus-aren-t-showing-t1532.html
And I was bitten, too.

4) I get messages "you are modded, bye bye" for no reason, except changing the language to Italian, or enabling NTFS support, or putting a file into the ISO folder. All of this is perfectly allowed operations and not modding.

5) the word "USB" is used very liberally, making it hard to understand the various menu commands and other options and buttons.

6) No idea, what "Enable Auto Shutdown" would do. And did not try. And about "Blacklist Unit", did not want to try, or to search for it.

Peter.

in addition,

7) SARDU removed the System Restore Points from the System Partition C: I did a System Restore point just before trying SARDU, and when I wanted to go back after Uninstalling SARDU, that System Restore Point has gone and Volume Shadow Storage was set to zero!

(either SARDU, or the USB boot stick, or the links from the downloads did this.). But one is Warned. Fortunately I do have a backup of C: .

Bye.

Peter.

I'm thinking to rewrite SARDU but i'm sure that SARDU don't delete system restore.
SARDU use only one function, launched from more opther functions to make the USB bootable

Could be. There is a known issue that Windows XP deletes Windows 6 (Vista, 7, 8 ) restore points. I'll post the KB

The KB is http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926185/en-us , and it happened. It could well be that the USB stick, or linux, did something it should not. I completely agree that SARDU did not delete the system restore points itself (next post).
