I'd like advise regarding using the Extra folder.

Postby wreckage » August 8th, 2012, 5:16 am

Hello.
I would like to add a WinPE (modified) ISO to the Sardu boot options, but can find nothing to assist me on how to do this.
I have seen the page: http://members.chello.at/bobby100/ILpart1.htm - but it doesn't tell me what to do (or I am too thick to understand it).

Can somebody please point me to some instructions on how to add another ISO and to add a menu item in the Sardu menu so I can choose to boot from it?

Thank-you.

I believe you can just name your iso "pebuilder.iso", stick it in the ISO folder, and make sure on the SarduCD "Windows" tab, "WindowsPE" is checked.

You would need to use Extra if there wasn't already a placeholder.

I think the help and the app might be a little out of date/sync. Not sure which process to follow anymore and maybe this is the thread to get the process re-stated.

In 2.0.5, there are options to Add ISO's under the "Extra" menu. I don't see why these steps should be separate? It would be better if it was wizard style where it asks for the ISO (what is point of asking for ISO if help says you need to move it into /extra and extract files? It is assumed your ISO is being taken in and extracted when you're telling Sardu where it is!), then prompts for the label and menu parameters. Currently, it appears like 'Extra' feature was added that you ONLY need to add the ISO, and the rest of the options are more custom/advanced and not necessarily required. In other words, the menu changes do not seem to have benefit over manually making the edits yourself since the instructions and changes are all in one section.

To me, Sardu is really only useful to me if I can easily add various ISO's at will. That will be why Sardu would be used over all the other multiboot ISO apps out there, for me anyways.

Hello.

Yes, I have tried that, but my PE, which is built to install a proprietary version of Win 7 Enterprise, boots fine (when selected from the SARDU menu), but after the networking driver setup starts, I just get pushed out and back out of SARDU and back to the computer's normal boot sequence. Shame.. it almost worked. ;-)

I agree. The program would be infinitely more useful if it had the ability to create menu items which would execute user-required ISOs. That is not to say that it's current functionality
is not useful, because what it does, it does well and saves me having multiple CD/DVDs for different purposes.
If it was user-configurable, or at least supplied documentation on HOW to do this, it would be one of the most useful systems in the world.

Do you know of any other system which will do what we want?
Thank-you.
