How to make laptop's Local Hard Disk Multi-bootable ??

Postby rubymax » March 23rd, 2011, 1:52 pm

I am using my laptop's hard disk(40 GB) as a portable hard disk using the external casing with usb calb And I want to make it multi-bootable. For that I formatted my NTFS hard disk to FAT32 with the HP USB DISK STORAGE FORMAT TOOL and SwissKnife Premimum.

But after formatting my disk with FAt32 file system, I am not being able to install syslinux.exe in my hard disk. It gives me the error with "Not a Removable Media".

I have tried sardu, yumi, multibootiso, unetbootin, etc but nothing fixed my problem.

I also found that there is a rmb(removable media bit) in usb storage device. And we can make removable disk to local disk (Fixed Drive) but I can't find how to make the local disk to removable disk.

And when I plug my usb pendrive in my dvd player, it reads without any difficulty, but when I plug my laptop's hard disk with usb, my dvd player says " No Disk".

Is there a solution for that ??

Please suggest !!! what to do ??

Thanks in advance !!

Regards,
Mahesh

I am using a 20GB SATA Hard drive in a 2.5" caddy using a USB cable and it all works good. However, the same process did not work when I tried the caddy with a 60GB drive. Must be some kind of capacity limitation for Removable media ???
