DVD and USB both fail to boot on Toshiba Laptop

Each one says "checking media" followed by "fail" and they won't boot. They work find on my other computer, but won't load at all for my Toshiba. What gives?

Nevermind... it turns out that I have something called "secure boot" in my bios that prevents it from loading stuff without SSL authentication. Disable that and change the boot type in the advanced system configuratino from UEFI (or whatever) to CSM.

Eureka! That was the spot-on fix and geek-steer I needed for identical problem I was encountering with a Toshiba Satellite L35W 2in1 Laptop.

You saved me so much time and frustration ... thanks so much iamgregor!
