0x7B BSoD with UBCD4Win

Postby jwade » May 19th, 2011, 11:30 pm

Is anyone else getting a Blue Screen of Death with the error code 0x0000007B when attempting to load UBCD4Win?

There are a lot of threads over on http://ubcd4win.com/forum/ that talk about this error. I have previously booted this same computer successfully from a USB flash drive made with tools supplied by UBCD4Win (UBUSB), but I have to use what they call "Compatibility Mode" to avoid the 0x7B error.

I have searched through the BIOS on this machine for an AHCI/Legacy option, but I can't find anything like that. (HP Pavilion a465c) I have also messed around with the applicable SARDU CFG files and even switched to GRUB for booting UBCD4Win, but I can't find the magic formula to get SARDU to boot UBCD4Win on this machine without the 0x7B BSoD. I have another machine that works fine with both UBUSB and SARDU/UBCD4Win, but not this one. I also work on a lot of Dells, and most of them have this same 0x7B issue.

Anyone have any ideas on how to either:
A: Enable the Compatibility Mode option on UBCD4Win in SARDU
OR
B: Get this machine to boot into UBCD4Win normally
??

I am using the latest beta (2.0.3 beta2).
