I can start the Sweeper tool but can't scan because it required up-to-date definitions.
As shown in the picture, those are of 2006 (i use the SARDU option to update the definitions)

Without up-to-date definitions Sweeper refuses to scan.
Only with the latest version, the scan function will be released.

Please take a look at this bug?

You use USB or ISO? If usb you try to format and start from scretch.

Thanks for your time and effort.
I have test it with an ISO file on a VMware-based virtual computer.

So as requested i am gonna test it now and built SARDU from the beginning.

As noted earlier, as a test used the SARDU option to update the sweeper's definitionst.
Is there maybe an error that your tool is refreshing it with an old definition?

In my tests works fine, old definitions are renamed .old. This is one error? I think no. Try with real pc.

Works fine for me and updates, if required....
