I am creating this thread to be able to interact for creating a good translation for Dutch.
I have noticed that between the original coding of SARDU in mostly Italian and different languages (English, German, Dutch) there are different translations with different meanings. This can lead to mistakes being made by the end users. Please help me make a correct translation.

This is the original translation from Davide Costa in English, being a reference for me:

I did have Google Translations translate some Italian in the coding for me to get a better understanding of the written text.

I have a problem understanding the exact purpose of what this line from above translation is trying to say:

ScegliUnitaSardu=Select units SARDU with Avira to update

Can you please explain this to me ?
I ask because the old Dutch translation:

ScegliUnitaSardu=Selecteer bestanden met definities om

translates back to English as:

Select files with definitions to

As you can see it is completely different and has an abrupt ending that suggests a continuation with something.

An other question: Do you want to use SARDU all the time or also Sardu ? I believe it is best to stick with only one of these all the time, and think that if you see SARDU as a trade name using only SARDU is correct.

An other thing is being consistent in the texts. Good example here is to use three dots after a line that speaks of an ongoing procedure. Like:

copying updates

which should then be:

Copying updates...

including the capital C because it's a line with a beginning and an end to it.

Other question: From the English translation:

NonTrovoSardu=Not find SARDU with

. What does this mean ?? It is not proper English so it's dangerous to just literally translate it into Dutch. Errors are easily made. Old Dutch translation is:

NonTrovoSardu=SARDU niet gevonden

but this translates back to English as:

SARDU was not found

. I need additional information here to better understand what information this line needs to express.

Next one:

Seriale=Serial

With 'seriale' what is meant exactly ? serial number ?

Libero=Vrij

With 'libero' what is meant exactly ? Free ?

Also I am missing some text from the GUI-menu in the INI file. Some text under Extra and under ? are in Dutch and some are in English but they are not present in the INI file, so I can not translate them until I have the (Italian) coding for them.

Unfortunately, not all language entries come from the ini. as you correctly observed.
So you can only translate the menu-extra in addition.

In SARDU 204 beta 9 the translation I made hasn't been included yet. Is there a specific reason for that ?

Take that not personally. Davide is sometimes very busy and tired. Beta 10 is coming soon. Since your language is included again.

I just finished an improved version of the Dutch language translation.
No big changes just using better wording for actions and some spelling improvements.

There is one problem I face with the interface in SARDU (I mean the SARDU I boot my PC into).
The menu has two occurrences of the title Tools.
Both the sub-menu for the Linux tools and the partitioning etc tools are called Tools, and this is not how it should be I think.
Problem is that it is not the translation that provides these titles.

In the GUI SARDU program under Language (selection), in Dutch called Taal, the Dutch language shouldn't be called Dutch, but correctly be called Nederlands. Dutch is English language for Nederlands and an incorrect word too since the word Dutch refers to the word Deutsch which means German. Ofcourse there is a historical reason for this mistake and in spoken word we don't distinguish much between the two.

Other thing I must note is that all my work can only provide about 50% of all translation of SARDU's GUI, since halve of the interface texts come from other sources than the language.ini - When I see the SARDU GUI my translators hands go itching. I hope that I will be able to contribute to helping build a fully translated GUI soon. :mrgreen:
