Trying to add EasyBCD as an extra

Postby tscv11 » May 20th, 2012, 4:05 am

i would like to add a program called "EasyBCD" to my SARDU boot disk (on a USB flash drive) but i've been having problems. currently "EasyBCD" appears in the boot menu (under "extra") but when i select it i end up with a grub command line. i can press the "Esc" key to to back up and try editing "menu.cfg" etc. i though maybe i needed to add "extra.cfg" instead but i'm not sure how to do it or if it would help me accomplish my goal. here is my extra.cfg file (the section i edited is in a green font):

i don't know if there is a free EasyBCD iso image. i just downloaded the standard (free) "EasyBCD 2.1.2.exe".

i thought that you could add an application to the "extra" menu by placing the folder containing the addition (and its subfolders) into the "extra" folder, then adding it to the menu by editing the "extra.cfg" file. just now i have noticed that the "extra" folder is a subfolder of the "ISO" folder. does every program have to be in ISO format, including those in the "extra" folder? i did try making the EasyBCD folder into an ISO with 7-zip and putting it into the ISO directory but i must have done something wrong because it didn't work. should it have worked? i must have done something wrong. please let me know if you have the answer!

thanks

:P

easybcd don't have a bootable ISO. this is the real problem

Code: Select all
Take control of your boot loader.
EasyBCD supercharges your Windows PC, allowing you to dual-boot to your heart's content.

SARDU does much more, easyBCD is a little alternative to SARDU.
Now my opinion: you haven't try SARDU, my pointless replies is the reply to a pointless question.
Well, expect someone to help you

you apparently don't understand that i just want to know how to add a program to the extra menu. it doesn't have to be EasyBCD. the point is, can you include anything other than an ISO, such as an executable file, in the extra menu. i have asked several key questions and you have ignored them, focusing instead on poorly composed ridicule. i'm guessing that english isn't you're first language or you just never mastered it. or perhaps you prefer to be lazy about it. after all, who cares - you'll never meet me, right? so why not just move along to your next target and stop wasting my time? i never said i expected anyone to help me, but i am hoping someone sincere will come along. call me an optimist, but i know there are decent people out there.

English isn't my first language, isn't my second language...
Since I programmed sardu i've been forced to write in English. You can correct my mistakes of english.

Now i read the title and you talk about EasyBCD then i think that this is the problem.
SARDU have two extra options: one for load extra files to be used by external programs (Portables to be used by Windows PE), other for load others bootable software.

http://www.sarducd.it/extra
N.B. These options are managed but isn't guaranteed that works fine. For help, see official help of manufacturers. These options is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, I can't help anyone!

SARDU haven't a team. Only Linuxbaby help me for german section, everything else I do it myself (from develop to forum).
How can i help you? I don't know if EasyBCD builds one ISO or just creates a multibootable USB.
If you make changes to the BCD files...you will have errors with SARDU. This is sure. SARDU for PE >2 or installer of Vista and Seven, build the USB multiboot editing the original BCD.

I would like to help but do not understand how I could do it.

P.S. EasyBCD.exe isn't bootable, is only an executable.
